World renowned Sydney whisky bar The Baxter Inn has been named Bar Of The Year at the Australian Bar Awards for the third year running, announced tonight in Sydney.
Although pipped to the Whisky Bar gong by Brisbane’s Death & Taxes, the iconic Clarence Street venue has taken out the top bar award. The Swillhouse group venue also won the award in 2018, 2017, 2014 and 2013. In 2012 they were named New Bar Of The Year. In 2016 and 2015, Brisbane's The Gresham - also a whisk(e)y-focused venue - were awarded the honour, making it seven straight years for whisky-focused venues.
The Australian Bartender Awards, run by Australian Bartender Magazine, are an annual peer voted competition recognising a range of on-premise venues, products and bartenders. The initial vote is open to industry members – bartenders and brand representatives – before the top ten in each category are voted upon by the other finalists.
