Diageo have revealed the line-up of whiskies in their 2018 Special Releases collection, with Brora and Port Ellen absent for the first time.
The annual collection of premium whiskies from across the drinks giants’ distilleries features familiar names like Caol Ila, Lagavulin and Talisker, whilst the silent Pittyvaich and Carsebridge (a grain distillery) do get a look in.
Last year Diageo announced plans to resurrect both the Port Ellen and Brora and both distilleries will now see annual releases outside of the Special Releases series.
The nine whiskies will be released later in the year, although the Australian market is still rolling out the 2017 editions.
So far nine expressions have been announced, with Diageo’s global malts ambassador Donald Colville told ScotchWhisky.com that a tenth will be announced later in the year.
“We need to keep our secrets, but what I will say is it’s going to be something different, something special and something everybody will really love,” he said.
“The thing with the Special Releases is every bottling is brilliant and they’ve all got their unique stories.”
