A bottle of Sullivans Cove has believed to have broken the price record for a single bottle of Australian whisky after selling for over AUD$11,000.
American Oak Cask HH0351, which was named World’s Best Single Cask at the World Whiskies Awards in March, was placed at auction at Christie’s in London. The bottle, one of the last owned by the distillery from that particular cask, fetched £6,600 – which is AUD$11,667 at the current exchange.
It is believed to be the highest price for a publicly sold bottle of Australian whisky, both as far as the distillery and Whisky Ardent could confirm.
All proceeds from the sale were donated to the Alannah & Madeline Foundation, a Tasmanian-based charity that keeps children safe from violence.
